Prison Guards at Ontario Private Prison Reject Contract Offer

Prison Guards at Canada’s first privatized adult prison rejected their first and second contract offer. They also voted in favour of going on strike.

The prison guards unionized in Sept 2002, after ongoing complaints about working conditions.

The Central North Correctional Centre (CNCC) opened 2 years ago and is Canada first privately run prison. The 1500 bed superjail is located in Penatanguishine Ontario, is run by Utah-based Management and Training Corporation.
